West Bengal State University Faculties, hostel facilities, infrastructure

The Government of West Bengal has through an Act of the Legislative Assembly has passed West Bengal Act XXVIII of 2007 implementing a long standing public demand in creating the University named "West Bengal State University (Barasat,North 24 Paragans)". This became functional from the Academic Session 2008-09. 5 7 colleges formerly belonging to Calcutta University has been through a Government notification No.300-Edn(U)/ IU-38/08 dated, the 26th May, 2008 transferred to this University. A three storied building is going to be completed very soon. Presently classes and laboratories are being conducted here. The main building of the University, which will be a G+7 structure, has been started. The piling work of that building is going to be completed within September, 2009. A Ladies Hostel has also been started, which will be completed within this year.
