THE UNIVERSITY OF BURDWAN Admission notification for admission to 2-year Masters of Business Administration (Tourism) Session: 2015-16

Applications in prescribed form to be downloaded from the website of the University of 
Burdwan (www.buruniv.ac.in),  on and  from  19.11.2014  to 26.12.2014,  are invited for admission to the 2-year Master of Business Administration (Tourism) Course of Studies (academic session 2015-2016). The downloaded application form must accompany  a)  a Demand Draft of  Rs.  150/- (Rupees  one  hundred fifty  only) in favour of the  “Finance Officer, The University of Burdwan”, payable at State bank of India, Burdwan University branch, b) Self attested photo copies of mark-sheets of  all  the  public  examinations  passed  and age proof certificate,  c)  Certificates of S.C./ S.T./O.B.C./P.H., if any, if the candidate intends to claim reservation under Government rules.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:  

Graduate in Arts, Commerce, Science, and in any other 
branches of Social Science in the 10+2+3 mode or Graduate in Engineering, Technology, Medicine, 
Pharmacy and Agriculture. 

SELECTION:  Selection of candidates for admission to the Master of Business Administration (Tourism)  programme will be made on the basis of two-phase admission test. The first phase includes CMAT /MAT/ CAT / XAT and GMAT  conducted by the respective agencies. The second phase comprises Group Discussion & Personal Interview test to be conducted by the Department of Tourism Management. Candidates with valid CMAT/MAT/ CAT / XAT and GMAT scores need to apply for admission and appear before Group Discussion and  Personal Interview.  Short listed candidates on the basis of written test scores of CMAT /MAT/ CAT / XAT and GMAT will be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview.  The short list of the candidates selected to appear for Group Discussion and Viva-voce will be displayed on  30th December 2014  at the Office of the Secretary, F.C. (Arts) and will also be available on the university websitewww.buruniv.ac.in.  Group Discussion & Personal Interview test will be held on 12th January, 2015. Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained in Group Discussion,  Personal 
Interview  and Written Test taken together.  Candidates along with the University application form  must submit the attested photocopy of the valid CMAT/MAT/ CAT / XAT and GMAT scorecard held by them.   

RESERVATION: As per Govt. rules.  

* (Instruction for S.C./S.T. candidates): Relevant Certificate must conform to West Bengal Govt. Memo No. 1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated 20th June, 2011.Candidates claiming reservation against SC/ST quota of seats must submit relevant caste certificates issued in their favour by one of the authorities listed below:                                         
i) Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Kolkata Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, Addl. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, 1st  Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate,  Sub-Divisional Officer, Deputy Collector, Addl. District Magistrate, Collector and District Magistrate  within their respective jurisdictions in case of candidates claiming to be Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe and ordinarily residing within such jurisdiction ii) Director /Deputy Director, SC & Tribes Welfare, W.B. in case of candidates claiming to be SC/ST residing in any part of W.B.  

** [Instructions for Differently Abled (D.A.) /Physically Handicapped(P.H.) candidates]:   A candidate seeking admission against reservation under Differently Abled (D.A.) /Physically Handicapped(P.H.) category, must have to submit the self attested photo-copy of the certificate in proof of his/her disability along with the Application Form.  The certificate must be valid in all respects and to be issued by an appropriate authority not below the rank of Superintendent of Sub-Divisional Hospital.  In the certificate, the extent of Physical Disability of the candidate must not be below 40%. Candidates who claim reservation 
against such quota must have to appear personally along with all the  supporting documents  in  original before the  Medical Board  on  02.01.2015  at  1-00 p.m.  at the  Office Chamber of the Secretary, Faculty Council (Arts etc.), Rajbati, B.U.  to legitimate his/her claim for admission under this category. If any candidate fails to turn up before the Medical Board on the stipulated date and time he/she will not be able to claim reservation under such category and he/she will be treated as a candidate belongs to General category.  If no candidate is found suitable under this category, the seat will be converted automatically to General Category.

THE  LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION OF UNIVERSITY FORM IN THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY, FACULTY COUNCIL (ARTS, etc.): DECEMBER 26, 2014.
